anyone know what happened (a robbery maybe?) at pentagon city mall tonight around 7 or 8 pm?

I think my DH and I inadvertently drove into the aftermath of some kind of crime occurring at Pentagon City mall tonight. We saw these two guys running out of the parking garage - FAST - making weird gestures, and a mall security guy was following them.. they ran right by our car and I was really confused about why they were running etc (didn't even think about the idea that it might be a crime). Then all of a sudden like four police cars with sirens on came out of nowhere and police officers started running after them too- it was SO strange! We ended up driving away and now I'm dying to know what was going on!!

I have no idea but I just Googled 'Crime at Pentagon City Mall' and came across an article from April. Apparently the 3rd floor mens room in Macy's is a popular cruising place. Ick. What is wrong with people. Glad I don't have young sons otherwise they'd be coming to the ladies room with me.

On June 9 at 7:45 pm, a subject stole merchandise from a store at the mall and when approached by the loss prevention officer, he fled the scene on foot. After being followed by the loss prevention officer, he threatened him with a knife. Police apprehended the subject a short time later in the mall parking garage. Lonnell Andre Buford, 40, of Washington, DC, was arrested and charged with robbery and possession of burglarious tools. He was held without bond."

Crime at Pentagon City? Not exactly news. Springfield Mall may be worse, but only by a little bit. I will never go to PCity again, nor would I EVER let my kids go there.

I don't go to the special hell that is Tysons so wouldn't know, but Lakeforest was bad too last time I went. Montgomery Mall has never seemed bad, but it doesn't have the kinds of draws (metro, "entertainment" venues, urban setting) as the other places. I've never had an issue taking my family there. Hope it doesn't go the way of these other places.
