I was reading and posted in the other recent thread on swimwear for the small-chested figure, but I'd like input, please, on clothing for working out. I like to jog/run for fitness, and finding the right top has always been a struggle for me. Given I'm very small in the bust (an AA/very small A, depends on the bra size/style), I'm not wanting to wear something very tight or form fitting, because I don't want to really draw attention to what I'm lacking up there. But, I can't go without support because my nipples still show.
So far, what I wear is a thin bra beneath a cotton/polyester blend tank top that I like; it's not form-fitting, but not sagging. I'd like other options, though. I definitely don't want a bikini top, because I am more of the shy type, and don't want to attract attention (for whatever reason). Could anyone recommend something like a tank top, maybe with some light padding, that perhaps isn't sitting too close to the body? Thanks for any advice. |

I recently moved out to Denver from DC and I have seen some ladies wearing these:

Then again, you might not like the open sides. Just an idea... |
| Thanks PP. That's an interesting idea, but you're right, I might want to have something with more coverage. But I like how it has the special features, including hanging a bit lower on the behind. I hate how most tops, including workout gear are so short in the torso, and I have a short torso to begin with. Thanks in advance for any more ideas coming in ... |

I wear this kind of thing:
http://www.underarmour.com/shop/us/en/pid1228139-582 I like built-in bras and fitted tanks, though. I think I look much better in those than looser tops. I think women with curvier figures look better in those (I get lost in them and don't even have a hint of curves in boxy t-shirts). The other thing I like is a sports bra and a loose tank like this: http://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=46758&vid=1&pid=221544 Or one with skinnier straps. I am a big fan of cap-sleeve, fitted tees, too: http://www.underarmour.com/shop/us/en/womens-ua-catalyst-shortsleeve-t/pid1210665 |
| I just bought two fitted tanks from Target's Champion line. They have thin pads that give a little roundedness to my otherwise flat chest and hides my nipples. It's hard to tell online whether the tanks have pads, so I'd suggest going in to check them out. |

I've seen smaller-breasted women wear this - it looks flattering:

| Hey, thanks everyone (OP here)! ... I'll definitely check out your various suggestions. I really appreciate the help. |
I really like this one the best. |
| OP here -- PP, do you have one like that, or similar? I am afraid for me it might be too airy; I probably need more side coverage (but again, like I wrote, I do like those features). |

I have a small chest that gets squased by all tank tops/sports bras. I saw this in from Title 9 that I'm thinking might give them some lift/seperation. I haven't bit the bullet and bought one yet

| OP here ... PP, you know, that's exactly what happens to me, and I can't stand it -- the squashing of what little I already have. Thanks for your suggestion, too, I'll take a look. |

I'm your size OP and just wear a sports bra & tank or one of those combo work out tops...
I always think that ppl will assume that the sports bra just flattened me out! haha... no this is me :-x Trust me, no one is going to notice your chest at the gym... even during bench presses. Your butt, well, that's another story
|
| Why can't you wear a sports bra and a tshirt? You don't need a special outfit. |
|
Hey 12:43, OP here ... Ha, that is interesting, didn't think of it that way with the flattening out vs. it being the real us (!)
PP, that's a good point; in the past I've tried those sports bras, but like the previous poster wrote, they all just flatten me so much, and I feel awkward/uncomfortable in them. But maybe I can give it a shot again. It's been a while since I've tried to shop for one (because it was always so frustrating trying to find a good fit). |
| Just want to second the mention of Title Nine. They make a real effort to have a good selection for both small and large-chested women. |
