Travis and Taylor

How is she going to handle the Chiefs losing a football game? She'll be just fine.

Ma'am, this is a gossip forum about pop culture.

Can you imagine your girlfriend of 9-10 weeks buying a house across from you? It totally matches with how she seems so overtly head over heels with Travis, acting like they were soulmates and destined to be together forever starting from like the 4 week mark in their relationship.

OMG and then they broke up like a month later and she sold it like 5 months after that, before the next summer season hahahhaha omg

DP. She didn’t sell it. Isn’t that house the one from last great American dynasty?

No. Cape Cod and Rhode Island are different places.

Exactly. I like celeb gossip because it keeps me from engaging in regular gossip about people in my life. I actually think this is a major reason the concept of a celebrity exists -- it gives people a place to judge, comment, speculate, etc., in a way that doesn't destroy social bonds. In fact in can build them! I love gossiping about celebs with my friends but we'd never sit around doing the same thing about someone we knew.

Anyway, thanks Taylor for giving us so much grist for the mill this last year!

Dave Letterman commented that the world is so ugly these days. He's right. In a world of war, school shootings, poverty, and immigration issues, this relationship is a bright light.

Maybe it is fake. Maybe it is PR. But so is Santa, the tooth fairy, and the Easter bunny. Sometimes you just need to believe in the magic.

Or maybe attempt to confront the school shootings and poverty issues rather than burying yourself in fantasy. Go make the world a better place rather than creating a Disney illusion.

+1. I like this analogy!

So now I'm wondering how much of this is Taylor's father stoking the PR and relationship. This is his M.O. completely. Taylor is immature, but she seems genuine in her enthusiasm. She's invested in the narrative for whatever reason, I personally believe she's quite taken with TK. Travis looks like his attention span for this is just starting to fray around the edges. I believe he enjoys being in the relationship but TK loves having freedom of movement and choices and there are a lot of people weighing in on how he *should* be behaving.
That footage in South America backstage with Taylor's dad and Travis still doesn't sit right.

It will be interesting when he's able to settle down and get a little rest in - the NFL season is grueling and they're all just fried by this point. So he'll get some rest, do whatever he has to do to finish up this season of football (post super bowl, KC administrative stuff) and then probably hit the road with her for a bit.

If it doesn't, big red flag in my opinion. But to judge him on anything right now isn't quite fair. He's been so tied down from football. But once he's not, he better let it rip for her a bit.

What backstage footage?

Anyone what the odds maker are giving the Super Bowl? Will Taylor show up or be a no show?

She has a 6pm concert the previous day in Tokyo. Superbowl is 6.30pm in Vegas. I am too lazy to figure out if she can logistically make it if she leaves right after her concert.

Agreed - it will be interesting to see whether this progresses or fizzles out once Travis is the one with free time, and he starts following her around from city to city - or not - as she's been doing for him. I don't see that happening but would be happy to be wrong about that.

A newspaper stated due the Super Bowl it may be difficult for her plane to get clearance to land in Vegas. She would then have to find an alternate international airport. Then tack on customs clearance and driving time to Vegas.

Gossip isn't tearing apart a women for the sheer fun of it. That signifies you have a mental condition that you need to seek help for.

Most of the critical posts on this thread aren't tearing apart Taylor Swift, the woman. Some are, I'll grant you -- I think the posts critical of her appearance or talking about her drinking habits are silly.

But the vast majority of the criticism on this thread is focused on whether or not this relationship is authentic, a PR ploy, or some combination thereof. And that's not about tearing down a woman. That's about being critical of a *product*. Because that's what Taylor Swift is, by her own choice. And Kelce has chosen to make himself a product too. The NFL is a product. And now Travis and Taylor as a couple are a product too. Every one of those entities stands to make money off of the interest in these people and their relationship, which is why the relationship has unfolded as it has. Even if you believe it's a genuine relationship, if you don't understand that it's also being sold to you, then I think you're naive. And that's not me tearing down a woman, that's me understanding how the media and PR work.

When Mama Kelce goes on the Today show to talk about her sons, diplomatically field some questions about Taylor, and joke about palling around with the State Farm guy at games, she's not doing it because she's bored or she's close personal friends with Hoda. She's doing it because Travis and Jason are a product and she understands that a big part of that product, especially since the Super Bowl where they played against each other, has to do with selling their family as something admirable and relatable. She's doing it for money. She obviously also loves her kids! But the reason we are hearing about it is because it is beneficial to their careers and the family's bottom line.

And the same is true of the Taylor/Travis relationship. You know how I know that Taylor's appearances at games, the shots of Chiefs wives hanging with Taylor and her Hollywood friends, the photos of Travis and Taylor on dates, hanging at an SNL afterparty, etc., are choices they make to reveal? Because they apparently dated for multiple months without anyone knowing, before revealing they relationship in October. Their relationship has played out publicly because they decided they wanted it to play out publicly. They could have continued to lay low, they could have put a pause on things until the season was over so they could date with less attention, Taylor could have gone to fewer games and just met up with Travis after games or on his off days. All of those were options available to them. They chose to make themselves a product.

Well now people comment on that product. It's great, it's fake, it's weird. I like her but not him. I like them both but not together. These are not the comments of someone tearing up a woman for sport. These are the comments of a giant focus group. One that may actually be used to maybe get Travis an acting or hosting gig, or test some storylines that could work on Taylor's next album.

Taylor Swift is not your friend or your cousin or your sister. We aren't discussing her because we're a clique of cool girls trying to exclude her (lol imagine excluding Taylor Swift). We are consumers being sold a product, and we're commenting on whether or not we like that product. It is you who is unnecessarily personalizing it.

I think it’s ridiculous to suggest that she could have dated him and just not gone to the games. Where would the fun be in that?

Especially since rumor has it that he will retire this year, just like Jason.
