If Trump wanted to fake an illness to avoid debates, I don’t think he would use Covid. He has spent the last 6 months downplaying it and trying to get it out of peoples’ minds. If his plan is to fake this illness so that he can come back in 2 weeks saying “see! I had it and I’m fine!” then that’s a pretty bad strategy. A TON of people will be casting their vote in the next two weeks, so he doesn’t have that kind of time for theatrics.

I’m thinking he really does have it and had to be so up-front about it since it was leaked about Hope Hicks and he needed to get the word out to the hundreds of people he was exposed to in order to somewhat contain the spread. The potus becoming a super spreader just weeks before election is not good politics.

Plus, if it was ever in their playbook to fake Covid, they wouldn’t have had their people running around maskless. They wouldn’t have had the family refuse to wear masks at the debate.

+2, this smells fishy to me. I think it’s a distraction for sympathy and to get the tax returns/debate fail out of the news cycle. He’ll quarantine for 14 days with no symptoms then come back like nothing ever happened.
