If you think California and Florida schools are the only schools that are not "north of the DC area," you might want to focus on something other than the appearance of a campus. |
+1 I'm from Mass, went to college in Maine. Cold weather invigorates me. Hot weather depresses me and makes me feel lethargic. I dread summer every year, and think I have the opposite of SAD. Everyone is different. |

Until you turn around and see the humanities building. |
+2 This sounds exactly like me!! I start getting depressed around March because I know the hot weather is right around the corner. I thought I was alone in feeling this way. Give me a good cold day anytime! |

The cold doesn't bother me as much as the lack of sunshine and short winter days. |
+1. I'm one of those people who just feels better when it is 75 and sunny. |
If the college year began in mid-July and ended in mid-September, I'd be all for school in Maine. |
There is a very real lifelong benefit to residing in an area near the school you attended. It doesn't always work out that way, but I would never attend a school located in an area that I could not imagine living in long term. |
Nice to know that there are at least tow people enjoying the artic blast we are experiencing right now. Cold weather sucks. |
Yale (and I went to Harvard!) |
+ my DD. Her college list is 100% cold weather schools for this exact reason. Doesn't hurt that there seem to be much better choices for her in NE than in FL. I chose my grad school, UMiami, for the nice weather, and I'd probably put more thought into it if I could do it again. Pero I did learn Spanish! |
Hmm, what sort of person views the world from the perspective of the "Northeast and Florida" - ignoring everything in between and to the West? |
