Does anyone else think that Kate Middleton's wedding dress was a little dull?

I think Kate is much prettier than Diana, and more stylish. Maybe it is because I am Kate's age so I never experienced the "page boy haircut is cool" era, but I thought Diana's whole look was pretty awful on her wedding day. Nothing glamorous about it. And Kate is obviously much classier - Diana's interview where she talks about her bulimia and weeps was just terrible. I've always felt bad for her because she was so young and in over her head, but I've never found Diana to be particularly admirable. I assume the near worship of her is because she was relatable.

No, it wasn't that she was relatable. It was her charisma and sense of style for the time which cannot be explained to someone from a later generation. It was her grace and the fact that she tried to do so much good in the world when it really wasn't required of her. There was something special about her. She genuinely cared. You had to be there. And be old enough to get it.

I think you are obviously too young to remember her charitable work, then. Yes, she had flaws, but I think that IS what made her more relatable. Was she gorgeous? Not always (although she looked much better in her post-Charles breakup years). But I think she had a good heart and truly cared about people. She VERY obviously loved those boys with all her heart. She was very influential in the everyday treatment of AIDS patients - she was getting close to/touching patients when some even in the medical field were not. That was huge to see a princess not be afraid - it helped the world to realize it was OK to show affection towards those suffering.

I like Kate and am happy for William that he got to marry a woman he is in love with. The same could not be said for Diana and Charles's marriage.

Ugh you sound like a lovely old hag! Im not the pp you quoted but who are you? Certainly you had no relationship with Diana. Im sure the younger pp could "get it" she simply has her own opinion about it.

I liked the fashion show with the hats. I thought they went well with what the women were wearing. Very elegant. Refreshing to see something that does not mimic hollywood

That's funny! Well, I was 11 when Diana married child so guess I am an old hag and yes, quite lovely, thank you. I just think it's a generational thing. People who were around at the time tend to love Diana. People who are younger seem to adore Kate.

PP, do you hear that sound? It was the very point my post sailing over your simple head.

for whatever you think of Princess Diana, she understood her influence and used it to to advantage of others. Not saying she was a completely selfless monk, but i remember that she made a point to touch AIDS patients in a day and time where they were treated as untouchables. that was a very symbolic gesture that was not lost on many in this world.

23:50 - the uglier the better, for sure! No one has mentioned one of the Spice girls (which one is married to the soccer player?) and her ugly frock? Why the sideways hats? Why? Why?! Was it her (lack of) facial expression that makes her more and more unattractive? The pig nose? Is she Pig Spice? What about the hair? Its either butch-chopped or slicked back like a grease marm? There is no in between? Truly wretched.

It's like the battle of the clitori-hats. WTF.

Actually, to be technically accurate, it is the battle of the vulvar hats.

Calling all royal fangirls and guys! Prince Charles is at Georgtown University right now. I am freakishly attracted to him--but then I love John Slattery on Mad Men.
