Ryan is not explaining his humiliation to the world out of the goodness of his heart. Olivia Nuzzi got a restraining order against him and helped to further destroy his career and presumably he has bills to pay. The telos thing puts money straight into his pocket

Yes we all get this. Everyone in this story needs to stop talking and quietly seek therapy. Lizza's ex is a physician with two kids. If he needs to correct he record so be it. But landing in the news for announcing the concept of "felching" to the world is doing his family no favors.

And now he’s playing the victim

Exactly. He wishes Sanford and the rest would pay him to bend over. How much of an idiot must he be to have no book deal and be stuck posting bitter screeds on substack while her career is back on track with a book out already? Twice her age and half her intellect.

Also I think he didn't write a book because he claims Olivia had been contacting him for months trying to get him to sign an NDA and promising she wouldn't talk about it. She then reneged on that. Again, I can see why he'd want to get his side out.

Yeah, a likely story. I have no doubt publishers are just beating his door down.

Agreed. He wouldn’t generate the interest.

Can anyone explain precisely what he did to get MeToo fired from The New Yorker?

It was never publicized but the gossip was that he hired a young intern in DC and had her come to his hotel room, and then pressured her for hook ups. New Yorker is in NYC but he was in dc as their Washington correspondent obviously and they didn’t see what he was doing until the girl came forward with a lawyer. I believe he was still technically married at this time (and definitely had two young children), and also had probably hooked up with god knows who else by this time, including Olivia.

Lizza is such a loser. No matter how poorly served Nuzzi is by all of these self-inflicted scandals, he’s just such a weak, nasty nothing.

Presumably he does need to correct the record. The New Yorker had already fired him over 1 scandal that he denied. Then Olivia got a restraining order against him. If he ever hopes to have his work published again, he can self-publish for a fee, as he's doing with this telos thing, or try to fix his reputation and garner sympathy, at least partially.

The fact that Nuzzi had affairs not only with RFK Jr but also with Appalachian trail Sanford while also writing about him and Olbermann makes anything she says suspect...

Sure reads like Olivia has found this thread...

Blame whoever gave her money for this idiotic book and the morons at Vanity Fair who hired this unethical trollop to be an editor. She should be fired on Monday.

That's why I find it so funny. It's such a tell about our times where people can get attention so easily for their self-created crises because they have social media and self-publishing outlets to do so. Then legacy media like VF jumps on the bandwagon. That an old rooster like RFK Jr is involved is so perfect.

Understanding that the misogynists can reach that particular low hanging fruit without getting off the couch, a dating history of Olberman/Lizza/Sanford/Kennedy with an overwrought book about the latter is plenty of material to work with.

Her ex says her phobia was being “old” and unwed — she defined “old” as after age 30. She turns 33 in January. Unwed and childless at 33 is old to 99% of the nation. To add, she’s now a radioactive national laughing stock, so, happy hunting for a spouse.

Right. She also thought RFK jr was an appropriate romantic prospect, so her beliefs are clearly insane on several fronts. You agreeing that women > 30 are old (and treating this as the ultimate insult as it's a proxy for desirability to old men) is a pretty hilarious self-own.

Also not you knowing when her birthday is. Speaking of "old", go creep on someone your own age, dude.

I also like how he says "Unwed and childless at 33 is old to 99% of the nation" when the average age of marriage nationwide is 28. Olivia is slightly older than the national average, as are most 30something men and women in big cities.

“ Maybe she can get some boomer to knock her up like Karoline “

Trump knocked her up. The old man was persuaded to marry her when the baby was seven months old. How many other rich men turned down Trumps offer? If this were a love match she would not be working.

Can someone paste parts two and three?

I used to work with Ryan Lizza. He was married to a very nice, normal woman. He also seemed...not sleazy. Sad to see what became of him. And I feel sorry for his ex.

Looking at Olivia Nuzzi's book buzz and pre-sales, it's not looking like this book is going to move. And I have no idea what Ryan Lizza is doing with his career.

Both are very talented. Kind of a shame to see them whither away in this sad flame. But in this day and age, you can't remove the writing from the personalities and the mistrust that engenders.

But this is America. Everyone gets a chance to start anew.

That would require somebody having paid for it. So good luck.
