Principal Vacancies

The Blake principal should be announced at the Board meeting on the 10th, according to a letter sent out today.

Same. And I think he will only get better with experience and with the autonomy of a permanent principal position.

He's still in the staff directory as acting principal.

The changeover after July 1st isn't automatic so it will be next week sometime until positions are updated unless done manually.

Are you saying that someone at the school has to manually put in changes to the staff, rather than having the system update automatically? That seems so inefficient.

Yes, each school has directory managers that can manually update staff directories. There is a day when these changes are pushed from central, but with so many roles still being hired for they are probably waiting.

It would be nice if it wasn’t another CO flack.

Thanks. So is there a point this summer that we should be able to look at our school directory and know it is updated (the date when central office updates it)? I'm just curious what teachers are leaving our school, CCES -- someone posted there is a lot of turnover, but no turnover is showing in the directory right now.

He’s acting principal until the board makes an appointment.

What do we think of the new principal at Whitman?

This happens at all schools. The school's directory and MCPS' directory do not match up either.

One thing that sometimes works: go to the Advanced Search page for the staff directory and enter your school's name. The results will often contain names of staff not yet assigned to the categories that appear in the version on the school site:

Can is the important word here.

There were staffing changes all year that our person never updated.

Hey, that's a good trick - I work for MCPS and didn't know that was an option! I will say the directory isn't perfect - I left one position for another in October and it still lists me for both - but that advanced search does definitely show newer hires for next year.

+1. Our school had two new resource teachers (department heads) start last summer, and they still don't appear in the staff directory page on our web site.
