Locals squirt tourists w/ water guns: Barcelona mass tourism protests

Don’t underestimate the harmful impact of airbnbs on housing in tourist areas—particularly in Europe. It’s very real.

The even bigger issue—particularly in the US—is the commoditization of the housing market. Corporations are purchasing houses and converting them to rentals, essentially making it impossible for families buy homes. Add airbnbs to that mix along with noncitizens buying homes, and we are left with a huge problem with no easy solution.

If you consider yourself a good person, don’t use airbnbs. Seriously.

DP. Oh spare me your sanctimony. Does your family sleep on park benches on vacation? There are practically zero ways to travel that aren’t adversely affecting someone somewhere.

They obviously don't. They just target anyone who looks white and blonde.

I am neither and won't be visiting Barcelona anytime soon. This is shameful.

Hence the discussions about overtourism. Is tourism a priority for a particular community? Would they prefer to follow other economic activities and objectives that allow a better way of living?

Amsterdam has stopped advertising.

Whose post explicitly mentioned "white"?

YOURS.

You remain gross.

Cities and towns have lots of ways to discourage tourism, through taxes and ordinances and the like. So why don't more of them do it? Because the businesses in these areas would freak out.

Like you looked at the videos, saw skin (and hair!) color, and decided that was what you needed to mention?

No, I refute your accusation, which is clearly a confession.

Sorry that the truth hurts. It's all there in the posts. I recommend you mea cupla and all will be good.

Dummie dummie, yes, of course I watched the videos, it helps to know the facts, don't you think?

This started when some PP asked the very reasonable question "How do they know the tourist isn't staying in a hotel?"

Grow up. And find something more productive to do with your time.
