My kids never wanted to meet characters. But they are teens/tweens now and completely uninterested. To be fair, as growing boys they would probably really like Golden Corral…more than Disney, and I don’t have to make a reservation 60 days in advance. |
We went when DD was 8 and it was fine. This was pre-COVID. We stayed off property and took a free shuttle to the Disney parks. I got a fast pass (I think that’s what it was called) for a few rides and waited in short lines for the less popular rides. We had passes for Pirates of the Caribbean, Space Mountain and Small World.
I didn’t make dining reservations. We walked in and were seated at the Lady and The Tramp Italian restaurant. I did reserve The Princess and the Frog River Boat experience and had a good view of the parade. We met Tiana and Naveen and we were done. Perfect day. I started planning at the beginning of November and we went the week before Christmas. |
I did that a few times, but then decided I didn’t like having to pay up that way, and stopped going. |
If you can’t have fun doing the non-ride activities (like the animatronics shows or parades or just the vibes) then yes, Disney is not for you! |
You are right about this. Disney has a State Fair carnival vibe. Many people seem to enjoy that. |
You’re really not getting it. I’ve spent a lot of time in Europe and usually pick a new city every year to visit. Unless you have a really specific interest generally no city vacation is going to involve dozens of activities daily that you have to juggle because that’s just not the way people do cultural tourism. If you DO have your entire week in Paris planned to fit in 10 activities a day - well, you probably won’t be the type to find Genie+ intimidating! The point is, Rome v Disney is an incommensurate comparison. You don’t like traveling to Rome better than Disney because Rome is better organized than Disney, lol. They are totally different things. |
Yes that is what I suspect. I have no interest in shows, parades and vibes. I like rides though |
Yet you missed the entire point of the thread. OP asked why people don't like Disney. You explaining why we're complete idiots to dislike Disney doesn't address OP's question. It just makes you sound like an ass. |
Why not try Disneyland? Or a Disney Cruise? |
It is you missing the point. The question asked: Can you share any experiences where your kids didn’t like disney and why? Instead we have people rambling on about what makes Paris so great and how they don't like carnivals or having to use a cellular phone for any reason on vakayshun. |
Title is “if YOU had a negative experience.” If you had a great Disney time, this isn’t the thread for you. |
lol at me “not getting it.” Disney is not comparable to Rome because Disney is Golden Corral and Rome has actually interesting things to see and good food to eat. You don’t get it because you like basic sh/t. Just own it, you go to Europe to check off boxes too. You just motor around Italy saying you have seen things. Ugh. |
I am definitely the poster you are complaining about. Trust me, people who don’t want to spend their vacations on phones are much more literate than you. Enjoy the fried butter at the county fair. |
If you have never been to Disney nobody cares about what vacations you prefer. People aren't talking about their neg experiences they are talking about what else they would rather do. |
Meanwhile you drive around with a "Coexist" bumper sticker on your Prius. You are definitely a certain type. |
