OMG she SLAYED!

Katie Britt is a JOKE!

The skit in its entirety.
I still can’t get over how utterly awful the real life performance was.

Scarlett Johansson parodies Katie Britt’s sotu response on SNL. "Like every mom, I am going to pivot out of nowhere to a shockingly violent story about sex trafficking. Rest assured that every detail about it is real except the year, where it took place & who was president when it happened."

This opinion piece by Alabama columnist is brutal
ly accurate.

“They said Britt was different. The one they said could show this whole country that young, educated GOP women were still a thing. They said she could demonstrate that Republicans could still be civil and dignified and respected, that they didn’t have to be performative clowns in MAGA hats, like Marjorie Taylor Greene.”

ScarJo was phenomenal (would love to know if she asked to do it!) but the funny thing is that even with trying so hard to overact, she still wasn’t overacting as much as the senator was.

I am cracking up about the blouse comments.
I never notice the same things men do.
It’s amazing what men notice (I used to think that women were conditioned to be critical but not anymore).

I do think this is where we are with politics. But please tread lightly on the women issues. That stuff runs deep and many people have knee jerk reactions.

+1 The cleavage isn’t too weird, alone. The kitchen isn’t either. The panting line delivery is weird, but it’s the altogether that is bizarre.

But there was no cleavage. Literally. None. Just a woman and her neck and upper chest. You cannot see the line between her breasts, which is what cleavage is.

I suspect the people saying this don't speak English as a first language. Cleavage specifically refers to the space between breasts. It isn't the larger area-- neck, chest, shoulders-- that a word like décolletage refers to. The English word cleavage refers to something that you cannot see on Sen Britt in this video.

Thank you. Amazing how triggered Democrats are by a woman in a completely normal v-neck blouse showing zero cleavage at all. It's almost as if... they're hypocritical misogynists!

We are not triggered. We just don't like liars that are so craven as to be debunked so roundly this quickly.

Then criticize her speech, and not on what she wore - which was completely appropriate, btw.

This thread is almost entirely criticizing her speech. 1 post got weird about the shirt.

Oh, please. They've (hopefully) been deleted, but anyone with even a shred of honesty would admit that there were several unhinged posts about her "seductive" neckline and non-existent "cleavage."

You should be focused on how she’s from Alabama, the forced birther state that’s really showing women how little they mean. She can play Mama at home - despite the fact that she’s got a job that keeps her away from home much of the time - but her party hates women and wants none of us to have any control over our own lives.

Like if you go after a Black man’s personal style (a tailored suit for instance) —I’m going to have a knee jerk reaction. Regardless of their political affiliation. I think it comes from the same place. ( I grew up in a multi ethic and multi racial community - I am not mainstream ethnicity/race myself. I respect all women even if they are hypocrites. There are certain things you don’t go after. )

*The hypocrite sentence refers to PP post that it’s open season to go after dress when someone is a hypocrite or harming their own gender.

I’m beginning to wonder if the performance was as bad as it was in order to deliberately draw attention away from how good Biden’s performance was.

True. Could have been a troll and I took the bait.

So focus on the fact that the GOP never cares about rape - unless they’re trying to somehow make a two decade old story seductive and titillating with their tone. The GOP is very, very weird and does not have the same reactions most people do.

Majorie reminded me of my mom. My mom didn’t start getting “big in the room” and obnoxious until her 50s/60s. If you know retirees in Florida that is how they appear (sans writing on the tees). Elderly people will do this. Marjorie is starting early guess. It’s a common phenom. Good for her - but some recognize it

Nah, I focused on Take Back the Night in college. I am not focusing on rape. Just not.
