I saw a case similar to this on Judge Judy, she awarded $5000 to the victim for pain and suffering.
Try small claims OP. |
But tell animal control, so this is documented. |
Sincere question. Can you read? |
Bull shite. I would punt kick the mutt to the moon in this case you peta nut. |
I would care much less about being liked. These people are not people I want to be friendly with. |
| get off this website, and lawyer up. dog needs to be put down or sent to the country |
| I just wanted to mention you should ask neighbors soon if they have any security footage. I think you should be thorough, maybe talk to each person in the surrounding houses directly. I also think that might be good in getting your side out there. You have two little kids you had and have to protect. You’re not some mean Mrs. Deagle (Gremlins ref). |
Agree! I have two dogs and do not understand how the dog got to you and your toddler. If the dog is outside in a yard with no fence, the dog needs to be on a leash! If my dogs walk out of my house, they are always on a leash. And I have a dog who adores small children, he gets very low to the ground when approaching children so he doesn’t freak them out. Always on a leash though!! |

OP again.
The good news: DD is healing beautifully and doesn’t seem to even remember the incident. No signs that she’s scared of any dogs! The bad news: the dog unfortunately passed away while being monitored. We don’t know what happened and we are sincerely sad with this outcome. The owners were clearly VERY upset and we had an incident last week where the husband came to our house and physically threatened our family. Police were called and it’s just been a downhill shitshow since. We do not feel safe in this neighborhood anymore. It’s just been really rough and I never imagined this would unfold as bad as it has. |
Sorry you’re going through this. Hopefully if your neighbors make the terrible decision that they should be dog owners again, maybe this time they’ll control their property and use a leash. |
I’m so glad your child is doing well. I’m sorry for your neighbor troubles. I hope the police are helpful and that you get back to a sense of normalcy. |
Wow. I am really sorry. That's terrible. |
Glad for your little DD and so sorry about the strife with the neighbors. I think I missed something -- the dog died "while being monitored"? Was it in custody of animal control or something, waiting to be sure it wasn't infected/had rabies even though it supposedly had a vaccinatio record? Sorry if this got mentioned and somehow I missed it. I would be concerned at this point about why the dog died because I'd want to know if it had any disease that could be passed to your DD -- I know, you said she's healing well, but I still would wonder even though it's been a while. As for the neighbors, I'm guessing you already have those physical threats on a police report--right? You will need all the documentation you can get. If you don't already have a doorbell camera/other cameras as well as motion sensor lights around the exterior of your house--I would get those, ASAP. Lights for the whole exterior, so if someone comes up to your house in the night the lights switch on and there's no cover of darkness to hide anyone. Sorry to have to suggest that, but that's reality when a neighbor is unhinged. Please updated us, many of us here will be thinking about your family, OP. |
Oh wow, I’m so happy that your daughter is doing well, but the dog dying while in quarantine is a messy situation. The neighbors are angry with you because they can’t reconcile that they are responsible for their own dog’s death. Surely there must be some other neighbors who can see the truth. |
