While I don’t work in admissions, I’d like to think that articulating a genuine and thoughtful reason for why this school goes a long way. And the past acceptance means you’ve been evaluated on the parent side too. If the school somehow took the rejection of the first child personally, that says a lot about the culture there. |
Not even on the one that we’re supposed to be “top prioritized” I was hoping today would be movement… |
For what it's worth we really loved our visit at IPS! Preferred it over some more "elite" schools in the end. |
One thing to be aware - most classrooms do not have a window..if that matters to you. |
Elite preschool? LOL! |
I heard 92Y dominated the tricycle races competition this past week but then Brick made a strong showing at the coloring event. Scouts from Goldman, McKinsey, and Harvard were in attendance. |
I really don't think "top priority" is that different than a typical waitlist |
Because once upon a time there was a site called Urban Baby where NYC moms could discuss schools and snark at each other. That site is no longer, and what's left of what tried to replace it is an unmoderated cesspool that has been taken over by a racist MAGA troll. Many of us came here in the aftermath. |
^^^Apologies for the bad editing, but I hope you get the gist. |
Very possible - but the other waitlists are simply as such and the comms with each admissions director is quite different (the prioritized WL asked us to hold out a bit if we can because they see it possible). |
Apparently applications were up nearly double vs last year at child’s school |
Any thoughts on Twin Parks Montessori or Montclare? |
Is this an UES or UWS school? |
I have many friends who were/are happy at Montclare. They generally send a lot of kids to Dalton every year, if that matters to you. |
What might some of these reasons be? UPK and 3K plus Covid created a drop in applications a few years ago. What’s driving the resurgence? |
