Green Pest Services showed up at my door-legit???

Who are they? Anyone have experience with this expanding company? Are they legit? He said they are based out of Chantilly. He did not have a card to provide and he had such a common name that it would be the type of name someone would use as an alias. He was in company uniform and had a brochure. We have a pest control service already. The guy was very nice and pleasant and did a quick inspection outside. Usually I tell random people to go away, but he seemed nice enough. I didn't let him in my house, but I am a little freaked out that I let a random person walk around outside "inspecting".

One thing that rubbed me the wrong way is he told me we have lots of spiders as he pointed to a picture of black widows. I asked him directly if we have black widows and he said no, but the spiders we have outside are similar to the photo, though when questioned he said they are not poisonous.

Aren't spiders good to have outside? Don't they eat worse bugs or something? Should I be worried that this is a potential robber scoping out my house?

I had someone from the same company come to my house on Wednesday, and I think they are as legit as any company that does a hard door-to-door sell. I wouldn't worry that it is a robber scoping out your house, since there are much easier ways to do that. Spiders do help keep other bugs under control. I think they focus on those because many people fear them(I'm terrified of them, but I don't care as long as they stay out of my sight), and there are some poisonous ones, which makes some people even more irrationally afraid. I would just brush it all off as typical sales pitch hyperbole and don't worry about it.

I just had that today, except that it was a woman. She told me that "many" of my neighbors were using it. When I asked who, she gave me 3 names. Told her I never heard of them, and then she told me they lived in a cul-de-sac "over there" (waved arm generically in a direction). I don't think there are any other cul-de-sacs other than ours in the area. She told me that it was much cheaper than than Terminix or Orkin....uhmm, the houses in the neighborhood are $2m+....does it look like the owners care about a $25/month difference in pest control? Weird, didn't seem that legit to me.

And then she topped it off by asking me if my husband was home to discuss it with him. I told her to leave and not come back.

OP here, very interesting. He also told me that several of my neighbors are interested. I should have asked for names, since I know all of them!!

From my net research it looks like the company started in other states and in those states it was sold to Terminex. Saw some not so good reviews from other states too.

From now on I'm sticking to my old policy of telling random people we're not interested so please leave.

I make it a rule to not do business with anyone who solicits business door to door. In this age, if I need a service, I will research it first and call YOU.

Today I got a call from some woman who sounded all official. She said she was in the "underwriting" department and was reviewing the file on my 2008 Subaru Outback. I asked for the company. She didn't have an answer. Finally figured it was an extended warranty company and told them to piss off.

We had a different door-to-door pest service come by today, twice. Cannot remember the name. McLean.

Yea they're a legit company. I've seen their trucks treating some homes in my neighborhood the past few days. The frogs on they're trucks are kinda cute.
