So while at Nordstrom's Rack I decided to try on Seven for All Mankind jeans as well as some Paige jeans. Nothing overly teeny bopper, just bootcut or flare. I am a size 8 (29) in 99% of brands, including 'junior' oriented stores like Express, Bebe, etc. I carry weight on the bottom and am big in the butt/thighs. I could.not.button.them. They were awful. They are cut way too low for the mommy pooch, and clearly designed for those without butts or thighs. I wear Lucky Jeans but was looking for something different for a change...now I'll go right back to Lucky.
For those of you who rave about these, do you have more of an apple or rectangular body type? Or are you just really frickin' skinny? I hear a lot of people raving about them, but what gives? Is there a certain style you go to that is designed differently from the ones I tried on? Or should I be trying something else entirely? (And I have heard good things about Not Your Daughter's Jeans, but I am 33 and the styles are still a little too conservative for me.) |
Boyfriend cuts are more forgiving, although you have to shop carefully to avoid looking shapeless.
I have a body like yours and I've had good luck with Joe's Jeans.
I'm a size 2/4 and have to wear size 8 in designer jeans. I do have hips and a butt, but I'm small overall. Try JBrand and Joes Jeans, and go up a size or two if needed.
By the way - I've had trouble finding the really good fits at Nordstrom Rack. You may have to go to Bloomingdales Chevy Chase and make an investment - they have a huge selection there.
OP, I've always had to get my jeans altered as my butt is big enough that the waist on any pair I purchase is too big. I just purchase to fit my hips/butt and then get the waist tailored. Looks amazing!
Vanity sizing maybe? I wear a 2/4 in pants at Ann Taylor and Banana Republic - those types of places. But in "designer jeans" and others that don't have ridiculous vanity sizing, I'm a 6/8.
Don't get hung up on the size, OP; like age, it's just a number. I posted on the other jeans thread; I've got an hourglass figure -- so I definitely have hips and thighs --, but I love my Joe's Provocateurs (27). OTOH, I also love GAP CurvyBoot (4) at one-third of the price of the Joe's.
Size 2, but I have a butt. Having a butt and being skinny makes it difficult to find the perfect jeans. If I go up a size, the pants will fit my butt but the waist of the jeans will be really lose and I am not a fan of wearing a belt. If I go down a size, then the waist will be too tight and when I bend over, butt crack shows. I honestly love the rockstar jeans at old navy. They fit perfectly. Available in all washes and hold up very well. They are skinny jeans, not really sure if that is your style. I am 26 and love them.
OP here -thanks so much, you guys have been really helpful. I definitely have the big waist issue (I have some Gap curvy and the waist is still pretty big so I haven't wanted to buy more because of that). I live near Bloomie's so I'll check out the JBrand and Joe's jeans there. I can't do skinny since I'm so curvy, it's just not a style that works for me (or not something I feel comfortable in, anyways). I feel like I go through this every few years when my jeans get tired...

I am 33 and just got some NYJDs! I love them. They are super comfortable and easy to deal with a baby wearing them (nothing hangs out in the back!). You should really try a pair. I have some skinny ones, bootcut, and some denim leggings that work great with boots!
