Suggestions?
We've been enjoying Wegman's uncured bacon. I like the lower saltiness of it. But am now looking for what people think are the best .
And where to get it. |
| I like Oscar Meyer. Costco. |
|
Niman Ranch Uncured Applewood Smoked Bacon at Whole Foods.
It will change your life. |
| Niman Ranch is delicious. You can get it at a better price from Trader Joe's. The different bacon options from the Whole Foods meat counter are also quite good. |

They used to have a wild boar bacon that was amazing but I haven't seen it in stores or on the web recently. |
| The Whole Foods store brand (Whole Ranch?). The thick-sliced stuff. |
|
We love, love, love the bacon delivered by South Mountain Creamery. Next favorite is West Virginia Brand thick cut, which we can get at Safeway.
|
| We actually don't like the "gourmet" types of bacon because they are too thick for our tastes -- we like it thin and crispy. As such, we like the Oscar Meyer Center Cut. 3 slices for 70 calories. Loved it even more when it came in the resealable hard plastic package. |
| I like the thick cut bacon. I cook in the oven on a rack. I sprinkle black pepper all over before cooking. Yumm |
|
Oscar Meyer Center Cut.
Good if you prefer thinner cut. Mmmm. Bacon. Now I'm drooling! |
| S. Wallace Edwards in Surry, VA has amazing bacon and ham. They have a store in Williamsburg or you can order online at Virginiatraditions.com. |
| I have milk and dairy delivered from South Mountain Creamery. They have a turkey bacon that is to die for. People cannot believe it is turkey and not port. |
| For cooking I buy whatever has no nitrates and is naturally smoked, there are brands that just add the smoked flavor. For eating, I like the red apron brand that I get from the DuPont market. I guess they have a shop in Arlington as well. |
| Smithfield makes great country ham and they also do a great smoked wood bacon. I think I've seen it at Safeway. |
Trader Joe's doesn't sell Niman Ranch anymore because they make their own uncured bacon now. |
