IM shots when husband is out of town?

My husband travels frequently. I'm worried that I might have to give myself an IM shot. I have no other family in the area to help out.

Is there a nurse in this area who is willing to provide this service (for a fee of course)?

I had a similar problem, and I had some IM shots that needed to go in my butt cheek area. I took a long retangular mirror (the ones that are like $20 at BB&B), and tried to do my best gumby impression to turn my head to see myself as I gave myself the shot. You really only need to be able to see to inject the shot, after that you don't need the mirror.

You also could call your clinic (or call Shady Grove and pretend you are a patient there), and ask if they can recommend an RN.

Hi OP, I had the same issue. Also, my husband was squeamish and really didn't like to give the shots. So I used a mirror and gave them to myself. Believe it or not, you get very used to it and it's not difficult after a while. Good luck with your cycle!

Can you have a friend do it for you. I had a good friend of mine do it when my husband was out of town.

I'm single, so confronted the question of how I was going to give myself progesterone in oil intra-muscularly. I googled PIO and came up with this very helpful video -- which detailed a position that my repro. folks hadn't told me about. Yeah, I know... who makes a video like that and who watches? All I can say is my son is 3.5 months and I'm grateful that video was around when I needed a "how to manual!" Best of luck to you.

My husband used to travel a lot as well. At first I used to go to the nurse at my RE's office and have her do it. Then I suckered my sister into it. Then my mom when I went to visit her. And finally the wife of someone I work with (she's a nurse and they live close by). When desperate, I've given them to myself.

i've been giving all my injections to myself. just ice and jab.

some clinics can do it for you- i had to do it to myself a few times (same thing- dh traveling) and it as strange but I knew how much was riding on this so I overcame anything and just did it- it wasn't as bad as I feared..

I gave the IM shot to myself every day for 8 weeks, in the thigh. You really get used to it, but I was pretty black and blue.
