"As part of his FY 2013 budget, President Obama eliminates funding for the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program, which throws a school choice lifeline to children who would otherwise be left hopeless in Washington’s public school system." |
School vouchers = free money for private schools. If the privates are so desperate to diversify their populations, they can provide their own scholarships.
I mean, unless they want to open their doors to everyone in a particular neighborhood, the way public schools do. |
The school choice grants barely make a dent in SFS tuition. I remember an article when those first came out about a Sidwell kid who got one who was already on full finanical aid there. So all it served to do was require the school to give her less aid. SFS has a pretty substantial financial aid budget so underprivileged kids have the opportunity to attend wether or not they've got a school choice grant.
Aren't most of the school choice kids at parochial schools? I think there are VERY few at the top private schools because of the gap between the tuition and the grant. |
Really? This is the best you can do? How is anyone in the US a Republican when everything they come up with is so weak? |
