Glasses from Warby Parker?

Anonymous
Just curious if anyone has experience purchasing glasses from the online store Warby Parker. I saw the owner on the Today Show last week so I checked out the site -- it looks like they will send you frames to try on, free of charge, and you can also upload a picture and "try on" frames. Normally, I would want to go to a store and try on as many frames as I can till I find a good pair, but I am intrigued with the concept -- and they say that frames with prescription lenses are only $95.

Anyone buy from the place or have experience with it? Curious about the quality, process, etc.

I saw the same segment you are referring to. Never tried Warby Parker, but the owner affirmed they stand behind their products and have happy customers. Give it a try!

I have a pair. It was very easy except I had to go to a shop to have my pupil distance measured because my doctor's office hadn't done that for my prescription. They also have a limited selection - I only found one pair that worked for me, but at least I found one.

I don't know, but I have seen some of my FB friends "liking" that site. I think it may be kind of trendy now. Like, kind of an "in" thing.

I would feel guilty asking a shop to measure my pupil distance so that I could buy from an online business. Does that strike anyone else as wrong?

I am going to their NY showroom in June to pick out a pair. I'll let you know how it goes. I saw that same segment and am in desperate need of a pair of glasses. My 22 year old brother says they are very trendy and called me a hipster for getting them. I jsut want to pay the 95 dollar price. We'll see

Love them. On second pair; husband has a pair, as well. Have returned pairs after getting them and not liking them on; they are super easy to deal with. Waiting on a pair of prescription sunglasses now (third try, didn't like the first two).

I think 39 dollar eyeglasses .com is a better deal. I think if you don't like the frames, you have one week to exchange them.

Also try Coastal Contacts. I have ordered from them several times. You can order your first pair for free.

My colleague just showed me this site today - he is trying on five pairs.

I did the free "try 5 pair" thing -- they sent me 5 frames without prescription lenses, I picked out a style and ordered prescription glasses in that style -- new glasses came quickly. I've spent hundreds at fancy stores for glasses, and really wanted an extra pair. I like them, they are fun, perhaps "hip" (I am not...). They are not super high quality, but that's not what I was expecting.

Presumably you paid them for the eye exam. Your prescription should have included all information necessary to buy frames.

I like my glasses. I did have to go back to my eye doc for the one measurement but they didn't make me feel bad about it.

Two pair owner here. Love them. If you have astigmatism you might have to pay $30 more. Try on five program is awesome. I got my dr to measure my pupillary distance during my annual eye exam. Like a PP pointed out, this is part of what you pay your doc for. I love WP. Can't say enough about them

OP here -- Thanks for all of the great feedback! For the poster who commented on the glasses not being super high quality, I have terrible eyesight but keep my contacts in for about 15-16 hours a day. Glasses go on right before bed and that's really it, but I'd love to have a pair of glasses that I actually like. Since my eyesight is so terrible and our vision insurance is not that good, I always end up paying around $300+ for a new pair of glasses. Ridiculous given that I hardly wear them, so Warby Parker might be the way to go.

Can't wait to order 5 pairs to try on! I also had fun when I uploaded a picture of myself and virtually tried on the glasses.
