Best Vineyards in Charlottesville Area?

Anonymous
Headed to Cville for our anniversary trip at the end of June. No kids! Would like to spend one day visiting a few vineyards. Welcome any recommendations - seeking nice wines (of course), great views, interesting restaurants/picnic sites, etc. I've heard Pippin Hill is beautiful - what else? Thanks!

We've always like Barboursville.

Keswick
King family
Blenheim
Veritas

Try to get to the Downtown Mall ( outdoor pedestrian mall) for a meal and shopping.

There are also several breweries: Blue Mountain, Devils Backbone, Starr Hill, Wild Wolf

Barboursville is amazing - worth a trip by itself.

Thanks for the tips! Any favorite restaurants on the mall? I went to grad school in Cville (graduated 10 years ago though) and recall the mall as cute but under-whelming food-wise. Is it better now?

We loved King Family and Veritas...not sure about restaurants.

Yes, the Downtown Mall has changed significantly in the past few years, certainly since 10 years ago:

C&O is nice just off the mall. Go to Fellini's for drinks!

Veritas is by far my favorite. We also like Barboursville, as others have recommended, and also enjoy Pollak (it's fairly new), Cardinal Point, and First Colony. There are so many good vineyards down there to choose from, but these are some of my favorites. And I think Veritas provides the best tasting experience and the property is gorgeous.

If you like beer, there are a few breweries in the area of some of the wineries I mentioned -- Devils Backbone and Blue Mountain are really good.
