Facebook paranoia - how do I know it's not posting articles I've read?

Sometimes I get asked when I read an article if I want to post it to FB or whatever, assume it means I would be one of those people who comes up on the news feed as having read X article. I do not want people to know every article I read, and I kind of find it hard to believe that my friends want to share that they read an article on People.com about Jessica Simpson. I maan, maybe they do.

I know that I can log out of FB to ensure it doesn't happen, but I'm wondering if there is another way to ensure. I go to my homepage and it says what I've "liked" etc. but doesn't provide a list for what I've read...does that mean I'm cool?

I'm seriously sick of FB. Thinking of ditching it all together, I'm hardly ever on.

I think you have to ok the article. Pop culture is a big deal these days, People.com rocks!

funny - somehow it came up that I read an article about pole dancing fitness. I'm pretty sure I didn't, though that is totally something that I'd probably read on a slow day at work. I may have clicked "like" on someone else's status about it, though - a couple of my friends take pole classes.

Several of my FB friends read articles on the W. Post 'Social Reader' app, and the titles are published to my newsfeed. Some of them are articles I can't imagine them wanting to publicize that they are reading. I'd watch out for that one.

If you check your FB apps, you can make sure the WP Social Reader or other similar apps are not listed. If they are, delete them. And then never click on "Okay" when prompted when you try to read an article.

Easiest way to avoid this is to log out of FB when you're not using it.

If your friend reads and article and you think it'll be interesting, don't click the facebook link. Instead open a new window and search for it that old fashioned way. The WashingtonPost social reader is a big culprit.

Does FB post when someone reads an article on people.com?? Even if it's not a FB link and looked up "the old-fashioned way"??

I think people are sharing these articles by clicking send to Facebook. Usually for a few laughs.
