Is the Jamestown ES PTA absolutely insane?

Anonymous
After trying yesterday to spin the sudden appearance of 5 trailers at Jamestown, they are backpedaling furiously. They just sent this insane letter to the board, which not only misspells the board chairwoman's surname, but describes the parental objections as "gripes."

This OP really needs to find something else to think about besides the PTA.

Trust me, everyone up in the Jamestown district today is thinking about the PTA. I know of at least two separate all-new slates of candidates that are being prepared for next year. One of them is all fathers. Time to get these harpies out of there.

This is why I opted out of the wonderful Jamestown for my child and we go to private school.

And assuming your child is at one of the major privates, there's likely multiple threads every month that mention or are about his/her school. Two threads about one public school in a week is enough to claim the OP is harping on an issue? Clearly it's affecting a few hundred kids and their parents, even if they aren't paying $30K/yr in tuition.

Was the classroom size ever anything that the PTA could have controlled? I thought class size limits was usually decided at a district letter.
OP, feel free to post the letter!

oh, yes, and pushback from the PTAs caused the board to reject the superintendent's proposal for an increase in class size next year.

idiots.

What's the big deal about trailers? I don't get it. I'd rather have a smaller class with trailers.

Trailers remind people of trailer parks which remind them of trailer "trash" which is not the image they pay way too much for their homes for.

OP here: You're thinking too logically.

When the PTA led the charge for lower class sizes they left out the part about how it would lead to trailers, and now the lemings are just starting to figure that out.

Yesterday the PTA president was singing a totally different song about how isn't it great we got these trailers now. Today, they send this really awful letter to the board.

Oh-- that letter is horrible. They are idiots. You should totally replace them. And why are the only available between those dates? And did they really think no one at the school knew the trailers were coming? I love how they are unsightly. Welcome to living across from a school!

What is the mentioned "far more palatable" and "only marginally more expensive" solution???
I am bursting with curiosity!

Me too! I bet they are planning on their large addition already! Ha.

Op here: I know, right?

It's embarrasing. I'm thinking of sending a letter of apology to the board and getting other Jamestown parents to sign on. There's a movement afoot to throw them out at the elections in June. No one currently on the PTA will be around next year, I don't think.

I can't believe they refer to parent concerns as "gripes." Good lord.
