Jeff hates it when we just post links without comments however I fear that any comment against Israel would be characterized by this bunch as anti Semitic. So I'll let the PM do the ethnic cleansing and race baiting himself.

I'm not sure what the issue is? The article says there have been 13,500 illegal immigrants in 2010 alone, 50k in past 7 yrs. The PM is stating that needs to be dealt with and this level of illegal immigration is threatening to the state. There are a variety of opinions on what to do, according to the article, including sending them back to their home countries.

Proportionally, if we saw that level of illegal immigration, we would all be up in arms I am sure.

Interesting way to look at it. 13,500 immigrants would equate to 535,000 in a country of our size. (We are 313 million, they are 7.9 million) I think that we have added about 1.4 million or 1.5 million immigrants a year, about 1/3 of whom are illegal), although during the recession the numbers probably declined.

So I think the answer based on proportionality is no, this is not enough for everyone to be up in arms. But Israel and the US are very different in an important way. We are a country of immigrants. Israel aims to be a Jewish state. This is the crux of the problem, not the number of immigrants, legal or illegal.

How is Israel aiming to be a jewish state any different than its neighbors aiming to be muslim states? Religion is the problem?
