Hi everyone,
I have recently lost a lot of weight and am looking to donate all of my old clothes that are in extremely good condition! I have about 50 items of clothing that I am looking to donate that is worth about $500+! I'd hate to just dump it all in one of those clothing bins so if anyone knows any good donation places in NOVA (preferably near Leesburg)...please let me know! |

Congrats on the weight loss.
What kind of clothing is worth $10 a piece? |
| You can schedule a pickup with Purple Heart online. |
I was just estimating. It's a lot of old navy shirts, gap jeans, old navy shorts, etc. |
| hmmm. Take it to a women's shelter? |
| I always donate to Purple Heart -- they come right to your door and you can ask for a receipt to use for tax purposes. |
| Purple Heart will not come to your door if you live in a condo -- they ask that you leave everything out front, which can be a hassle and may be against your condo's rules. |

Goodwill is an option. They do some pickups (http://www.dcgoodwill.org/index.php?option=com_qcontacts&view=contact&id=2&Itemid=255).
They also have a sheet with approximate values for items: http://www.dcgoodwill.org/docs/DonationValueEstimate.pdf The rule of thumb is that donated items are valued at ~10% of the original purchase price. So your $50 shorts are valued at $5. Your $25 shirt is $2. Depressing in its own way. |
I don't live in a condo so if I go this route, thanks for the input! |
