Detangling American girl type doll hair?

I've looked on the Internet and I see many recommendations (" downy dunk", distiller water spray, armor all and others).
Have any of you successfully detangled/ defrizzed your childs dolls hair? And how?

You should only use a wire wig brush on doll hair. Do it the same way you would a child's hair - start at the bottom and slowly work your way up.

We do this, but dolls are hand me down and I am wondering if there's a way to fix it that anyone has tried .

We did this --the doll comes back good as new.

Google doll hospitals. There was one in my hometown growing up that fixed any kind of doll.
