Wow. Vets favor Obama by 7 Points over Romney

That's huge. I don't know whether it say more about Obama's foreign policy or about fears of what Romney would do in the Middle East.

It's not surprising.

Nope. Vets are smart.

Weird to have a Democrat seen as better on international affairs than the Republican.

Why is that weird? Republican talking points aren't always truth.

OP here. To put this in perspective, Bush beat Kerry by 14 points among Veterans in 2004. And Kerry was a veteran.

Oh, I think the Republicans are full of shit. It's just that the population at large has seen them as more credible than Democrats in this area ever since I can remember. I'm just not used to it being the other way around.

Obama has made vets a priority during his term and Michelle's project has been military families. I guess it's paying off!

Yes, but those lying Shrimp Boat Veterans for "Truth" really did a number. Weren't they funded by someone like the Koch Brothers?

And I'm aware it's "swift"....

If I recall correctly, the last time around when he was asked why none of his five sons was serving his country in the military, all Romney had to say was that they were serving here.

That's right, folks: serving in investment banking, real estate, etc.

And it's pretty clear from his past that Romney never had any interest in civic issues until he had become very wealthy and figured it would be nice to run for office for a change.

Ummm, no they don't...

Poll: Romney tops Obama by 28 points among male veterans

A new Gallup poll released on Memorial Day shows male veterans breaking strongly for Mitt Romney over President Obama.
The presumptive GOP nominee receives support from 58 percent of all veteran registered voters surveyed to Obama's 34 percent.

I don't think he was a particularly admired veteran, and his wife's money had a similar kind of negative effect as Romney's wealth on ordinary citizens and vets.

Ha! Either all those smart vets are running to Romney or those polls are messed up. Even if you take the average Romney still leads with vets-- not dumb at all.

Romney stopped talking about foreign policy. Once he opens up his mouth again about Iran, they will swing right back. Vets don't want another war.
