OP here. To put this in perspective, Bush beat Kerry by 14 points among Veterans in 2004. And Kerry was a veteran.

Oh, I think the Republicans are full of shit. It's just that the population at large has seen them as more credible than Democrats in this area ever since I can remember. I'm just not used to it being the other way around. |

If I recall correctly, the last time around when he was asked why none of his five sons was serving his country in the military, all Romney had to say was that they were serving here.
That's right, folks: serving in investment banking, real estate, etc. And it's pretty clear from his past that Romney never had any interest in civic issues until he had become very wealthy and figured it would be nice to run for office for a change. |

I don't think he was a particularly admired veteran, and his wife's money had a similar kind of negative effect as Romney's wealth on ordinary citizens and vets. |
