summer immersion classes

I'd like my child to get acclimated to Spanish before she enters an immersion kindergarten. I know this is not required, but I'd like to ease the transition. Can anyone recommend a program/class in DTSS or Bethesda? Thanks in advance.

There are several spanish immersion summer camps and Saturday classes that may interest you. All are great programs and I have heard only positive reviews about them.

Is it typical to have them do some kind of Spanish class or something before starting immersion? My daughter is going to Spanish immersion for K this fall and has Spanish at her preschool once a week, but that's it. Thanks!

I think many parents send there children to immersion clesses or camp prior to starting MCPS immersion programs. I spoke with the director of Arco Iris Somos and she mentioned that many of the children that attend her camp will be entering MCPS Spanish Immersion prgrams, particularly Rock Creek Forest. I definitely don't think it is necessary, but would certainly help to better prepare a child for starting kindergarten in that kind of environment.

Well good to know. My daughter is going to RCF and we hadn't considered this.
