Hello there:
I have searched the archives but haven't found anything posed that is so specific..... I am 39 and need a new OB because mine dropped my insurance (MAMSI-United). Obviously, I don't have a lot of time "left" and really would like an OB who is caring but also may have dealt with "older" patients ![]() I've had two miscarriages over the years and am interested in delivering at Fairfax Inova because I want a good NICU just in case we need it.... Any help would be appreciated. Thank you all so much! |
Try Jane Piness at Arlington (Virginia Hospital Center)--very careful physician. VHC has an excellent, new NICU with private bays for each baby (reduced NICU times and chances of hospital acquired infection). |
Try Patricia Bannon in McLean. I delivered both of my babies with her when I was 38/40. She's terrific. |
I recommend Dr. Terry Allen. I'm on my 3rd Advanced Maternal Age pregnancy with her! We also had MD IPA. |
Perinatal Associates: Alfred Khoury, George Bronski and Barbara Nies are my favorite. Huda Al-Kouatly is very good and nice but goes too fast for me. They are all high-risk OBs and have offices in Inova Fairfax (6th floor - the Antenatal Testing Center) and down the road from Inova Fairfax. I can't say enough good things about them. |
Northern Virginia OB/GYN Associates delivers at Inova Fairfax and they are very good. Highly recommend Dr. Silas and Dr. Maddox - great docs. |
Drs. Richard Newman and Julian Safran (Capitak Women's Care is the name of the practice) But they are here in Dc and deliver at Sibley. It is worth meeting them, at least.
And just as an aside, my mom had my younger brother at 42. You are young!! ![]() |
I second the recommendation for Jane Piness. I think she's terrific, careful, kind, and honest. And we like VHC - Arlington, too. |
second rec for Dr. Bannon-she is wonderful and caring-I am pregant with number two at 40 so I think she has seen it all. |
I was were you were a few years ago- but had 4 miscarriages- same age etc.- have you been to an RE yet? get some tests.. i had so many tests- all were normal- if so- a good OB can so much do more- i am lucky since i had dr kacendan and dr wolf (partners)- super smart and sensitive etc.- i remember seeing a high risk dr after i was pregnant for the 5th time (and had tests, 4 m/c before) - i was "lucky" i waited to see him- he said had i been there before i was 12w pregnant he would have put me on some injectibles- but since i was ok he only had some monitoring suggestions.. |
I second this! I just delivered with them due to AMA and a blood clotting disorder (they only accept high-risk patients). They are all fabulous and the practice is the best I've been to in the area. The nurses and staff are great and I can't say enough good things about this practice. Good luck! |
