I have a Medela Pump In Style to use at work when DD goes to daycare (I'm BFing exclusively), but I'd like another (cheaper) pump to keep at home for when I need to pump at home once in a while. I don't want to lug the Medela pump back and forth on the metro. Any recommendations?
I got a Medela hand pump--Harmony--for a business trip when I was close to weaning my son completely. Knew I'd need to express milk for comfort, but didn't want to lug the PIS on the plane. I would recommend it. I think I got as much milk as with the electric pump, and the beauty of sticking with Medela is that they both use the same bottles.
I like the Medela Harmony too
Baby Bargains has some recommendations on those in case you haven't checked them out yet.
The Avent Isis hand pump is great if you are looking for a hand pump. You can't pump into the Medela bottles, though.
I second the Avent Isis hand pump. It is working great for me ( I pump once per day while my husband feeds DD bottle). I plan to purchase PIS when I go back to work and leave it at office - just like OP is considering - thus sticking with Isis for any rare pumping needs at home.
