Just saw this and it is only 10 percent Asian. Woah. TJ fell all the way to #2. http://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/texas/districts/dallas-independent-school-district/school-for-the-talented-and-gifted-18937 |
Texas is slowing overtaking us as the most desirable place in the USA |
| Those lists are so stupid. But did you see how many are in Tuscon? |
| after looking at the profiles of the schools, it's not a fair comparison. The Dallas school only has like 225 students in total, far less that TJ's freshman class. |
| Oh no! World ending! |
| #1 is a school for Gifted and Talented but under school data it says Magnet School-No, although it clearly is a magnet. These rankings do not provide useful information. All it demonstrates is that magnet schools and the most affluent public schools in the nation have the highest achieving kids, but we already knew that. A lot of the learning goes on at home, guaranteed. |
| It is the best school in the nation, and we know it. |
<Snort> Oh, wait, were you serious? |
which one? |
| Another reason to move to TX other than no state income taxes... |
| PP, got to balance these 2 reaons with 20 not to move, pardner |
they make up for it in real estate taxes, trust me And then there is the state government who actually allowed the state-forced and medically unnecessary vaginal ultrasounds because all women seeking abortions must be whores...and the state school board that has decided they will not longer teach about thomas jefferson because he's a commie or some such BS ;P Texas is really NOT the mecca just because housing costs are cheaper and they are creating "so many (cough, cough low-paying and lacking benefits cough) jobs" |
|
^ but if you look at the U.S. News rankings, schools in Dallas were number 1 and number 3.
So 2 of the three best high schools in America (usining U.S. News's criteria) are in Dallas Tx. So they must be doing something right. |

For those/everyone who does not look at the actual data let me help you. The dallas school has 58 total kids that took the ap exam an they have an overall pass rate of 66%.
Tj had 431 students take the ap exams and had a pass rate of 98%. Maybe its just me but 98% sounds a lot better than 66%. Someone has an agenda, probably someone affiliated with this dallas school. |
