No more than once a week.

Seriously? Once a week is overkill this early in the game. I'd say more like once a month until August.

If you've already inched up that much, you'll get in. Don't call till the end of the month - and just keep your fingers crossed!

Every two weeks is fine. Just be polite and sensitive to the fact that it's a hectic time.

Your calling does let the school know that you are serious. You won't jump the list, but when your number comes up, they will be delighted to deliver some good news. Because, believe it or not, not all of the people on the waiting list are interested in the space. Many people apply to lots of schools to hedge their bets.

I don't know about others, but Cap City and Mundo Verde are updating periodically online, so you don't have to call them.

No matter how many times you call, the info will be what the info will be. Try to relax.

When you call, ask where in the process the current accepted students are. If you call on Apr 15, and current accepted families have until Apr 30 to turn in paperwork, no point in calling again until ~May 5 to 10. Depending on the school, it will take a few days to sort out the paperwork, and confirm the no shows slots are taken away.

Inspired Teachimg is also updating its list online. This seems easier for both the schools and the parents. Wish more of them would do this.

They will call (or e-mail) you!

If there is a school you are genuinely interested in, make sure they have your up to date contact info including cell phone.
If you are going out of town and will be out of touch via those numbers, let them know.

Otherwise, no need to call often. It will not mean the difference of getting a spot or not. Many lists are online. For those that aren't; once a month max until it gets much closer to the start of school; then once a week tops as lists will start to move.

If you do get a call, respond swiftly. After school starts, principals may have a shorter time frame that they will wait for your return call before moving on to the next family.
