| We stopped the happy hours since we became parents, but occasionally it would be nice to stop by for a quick drink or well-priced food after work and picking up DD from daycare. Some of my friends at work have young kids too, and we were wondering if such things even exist. Preferably Bethesda or NW DC. Thanks! |
| Please don't. |
Word!!!!! |
| There is actually one organized by one of the listserves in North Georgetown at a restaurant off Wisconsin. I haven't been but it sounded like a good idea to me. They organized it with the restaurant/bar. |
| Your house. |
| I'm sure there is a Ruby Tuesday or other family friendly restaurant in your area. Go there and order drinks. You probably didn't like kids at happy hours when you were single so please return the favor. |
| I think you are going to need to find a place that extends its happy hour specials beyond the bar area, so you can sit wih your family but still get the happy hour food and drink prices. Or a place with a patio where you can sit and have happy hour specials, just not in the bar itself . |
| Typical self centered parents. "Let's change the rules since I'm a Mom now!!!" |
ditto. - mom of toddler who likes a drink |
| Will you be driving in a car with your child after you drink? If so, please stay home and drink there. |
| Go to a local playground and drink out of brown bag. |
|
OP, I'd recommend your house. I say that as a mom of a toddler who loves happy hours.
My other recommendation would be to have DH to daycare pickup and do HH with your friends by yourself. OR have DH do pickup, come along to introduce your toddler, and then he and toddler can leave while you stay and socialize. |
| There is a "Stroller Happy Hour" once or twice a month at Town Hall (on Wisconsin in Glover Park). |
|
I think it's a great idea.
Maybe she commutes on the Metro. Or maybe they walk. |
| The nest in bethesda is kid friendly and empty at 5pm. They have great wine and drink specials. I think $5 drinks one night and half price wine bottles two nights a week. Just go and take over a corner with all your friends and kids. |
