Follow-up after a job interview

Last Monday, I had a second interview with the President at an organization where I would really like to work. I sent separate thank you notes to both the President and the other person I had previously interviewed with. They told me that they would be making a decision sometime next week...it's now "next week" and I'm really anxious just to get the darn decision, whether I get an offer or not. I just need to wrap this up and move on, in the event I did/did not get the job. Still haven't heard anything yet -- is it ever okay to check in, or do I just need to let it go until they contact me?

Did you contact them via email or regular mail? I think you have to wait until next week to be in touch. Anything sooner is pushy. Good luck!

Thank you's and all other communications have taken place via email. The one person I had interviewed with has been very responsive, but yes, I agree -- I definitely don't want to be pushy! Guess I need to just let it go. Thanks!

I would wait til next Monday to contact them to be honest. at this point, you've done what you can, it's in their hands for the most part.

Keep looking, this isn't the only job in the world. tough to do but important to get perspective.

Nope. It's a small organization. All communication has been done through the person that I would work directly with.

This week ("next week") is not up yet so I will give them until next week to follow up.

They said sometime next week, which could very well mean by the end of the week - I would wait until next Monday or Friday if you really can't help yourself. Also be aware that hiring decisions can sometimes take longer for all sorts of reasons - one of the key decision makers winds up being out of the office for a few days, etc. Not hearing anything yet doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong.
