s/o Nutella- The Anti-Christ

What foods do you include in your diet or your child's diet that claim to be part of a "healthy and balanced" diet that are really just processed crap?

Goldfish crackers, graham crackers, and occasional jelly beans (poop on potty, getting into car seat, etc.). Also diluted juice, french fries at restaurants, and hot dogs (once per month or less), TJ's fish sticks, TJ's chicken nuggets.

My bad. Don't think any of these things are supposed to be part of a "balanced diet," they're just the kinds of crap food I allow for my 2.5 year old. But he eats healthy most of the time and is a huge veggie fan.

All of the above + Carnation Instant Breakfast and Kraft Mac-n-Cheese. MMmmmmm....

Lordy I love that Carnation Instant Breakfast. REcently had a bout of dental work! But I won't let the kids have it (Mommy's special teeth drink).

But, I do let my nanny give my kids Ramen. They LOVE it. She doesn't use the full spice packet, and doctors it up with veggies and proteins. Every once in a while I think I have to put a stop to it, but they're both very healthy, rest of their diet is good, and they do eat plenty of vegetables (and we don't salt our foods), so I let it pass.

Nutella is no worse than parents packing the peanut butter-banana-chocolate chip sandwiches.

I am an adult woman. I love Gordons frozen Haddock Fish sticks!

Why would anyone ever consider a chocolate spread like Nutella a healthy food?

To the Ramen poster--Ramen Rocks! My DD loves it on occasion and I have already told her in college that she will get to eat it all the time!

I survived off of Whole Grain Goldfish while pregnant and allow my 2 year old to eat them now.

I am the OP. My kids LOVE NUTELLA. I give them "junk" food sometimes. That doesn't make me a bad mom or my kids bad kids. They don't get it at every meal, but I find it hard to believe that someone thought that the Nutella commercials misled them to believe that Nutella was a healthy breakfast substitution or whatever it is that they are trying to claim. I find it hard pressed to push a child to eat ONLY healthy food, but part of being a kid is being able to enjoy a junk food treat sometimes. That being said my kids eat a LOT of healthy stuff with junk mixed in for good measure. It rounds them out as a HUMAN BEING. I love junk food, but I try to make healthy choices for my kids' sake. Also, in our home Nutella is a staple in our pantry. We are Italian and Nutella has been in eaten for GENERATIONS without the threat of obesity or diabetes. WHY? because of this little thing I like to call moderation.

Yeah. And part of being a mom is the privilege of eating Nutella right out of the jar after the kids go go bed. OK - so I smeared mine on a banana yesterday. That's healthy, right? I mean, a fruit was involved.

I love ramen noodles too! Love to add Vietnamese fish sauce to flavor it, and I also add healthy vegetables.

If I could exercise moderation with Nutella there would be some in my cupboard right now. I am, however, incapable of not sticking my face in the jar and having at it. Sigh...no Nutella for me.

Goldfish crackers but we don't have those very often, a bag often lasts quite a while.

Ramen noodles, love me some MSG! I scramble an egg and put in it with some Cholula.

OMG, cereal bars. I have tried to get them only at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods hoping for less fake crap and dyes but who really knows?

Never in a million years would I think that Nutella were part of a daily healthy breakfast and shame on them for making a commercial that said so.

Nutella ravioli made with wonton wrappers and fried, then dusted with powdered sugar.
