Location for 40th Bday Party in NoVA

Anonymous
My husband is turning 40 in the spring and I'm trying to plan a surprise party for him.

I'm looking for venues to have it at...would like somewhere either a restaurant or place to have it catered. I would like to have alcohol. Probably will be too cold (early March) for outside.

I'm curious if someone else did this and had suggestions.

Thanks so much!

Someone posted a similar topic recently (within the last couple of weeks) and there were quite a few responses. Some I remember are that Maggiano's and Clyde's have party rooms.

Kilroys has a screened/heated back patio exclusively for parties. If you do it on a Sunday then their brunch (which is soooo yummy) is your best bet.

Hooters. They have great wings.

I just threw a bridal shower for 9 people at La Tasca in Clarendon last Saturday. We had a great time, the service was great and the prices were reasonable. Our server told me that they'd had a wedding reception the night before, so it seems like they can accommodate large and small parties.

I don't know where you are, but the Great American Restaurants (Sweetwater Tavern, Arties, Coastal Flats, etc.) also have space for private parties. I found this out after I'd booked La Tasca and will keep this in mind. Actually, I know for a fact that Sweetwater has space...I'm not sure if the entire restaurant line does.

The first question shoudl be "how much are you willing to spend per person?"
$20, $50, $100?
I suggest you start from there.
Next question might be formal or informal?

Probably between $20-50. Pretty informal, but want a cake and maybe music. Not sure on the number of people but probably 50 or less.

Thanks for the suggestions...I'll check them out.

OP: I posted a similar question 2 weeks ago. Doing a surprise B-day thing for my DH in the Fall. I endded up booking a spot at Maggiano's at Tysons. Went to see the place. It's quite nice. Their lunch family style menu is around $25 per person and dinner is around $35 per person. They book up quickly although they have a large number of party rooms to choose from. Check them out!
