Moon Bounces

Has anyone ever rented a moon bounce for your child's party? If so, I would be interested in hearing about your experience. Thanks

I rented a moon bounce for my daughter's 4th and 5th birthdays. Kid love to bounce; I think it's worthwhile for 3-10 years old (but my eldest is turning 6, so I'm not an expert on older kids). You can usually rent with or without an attendant. We did it with an attendant the first time, but I think without the second time. They set it up, and aside from keeping an eye on behavior, you shouldn't have to give the moon bounce a second thought.

Last year we used Hop on Pops, which seems well established and had good customer service. We were very happy with them, but they are on the expensive side. This year (6th birthday is coming up) we are considering FunKidsJump.com, which is half the cost. They've been responsive to my questions via email, so I'm inclined to go with them. I have concerns because I can't find any reviews except for one the owner clearly post on Yelp himself. But it was just one review, he used his real name and didn't try create dozens of fake reviews, so I think I'll forgive it. It's tough to own your own business, maybe he was desperate.

Hope this helps.

Major source of hand foot and mouth disease. My DD had several bouts w/it. But we rented them anyway.

You can buy one from little tykes for the cost to rent one. Obviously the LT one is smaller, but, it will be new and you can use it again.

Didn't rent one, but friends did. One boy almost broke his leg in there during the party and the parents of that kid went ape sh#t and threatened to sue the hosts. Always think twice when you have a "dangerous" piece of equipment at your house. You are responsible if someone gets hurt, etc. Sigh.

Had one for DD's (4.5 yo) party last summer, was a bunch of fun, and no mishaps involving guests. We had plenty of parents in attendence (in the bounce house, even) so supervision wasn't an issue. I wouldn't have been comfortable if it had been a drop-off party, though.

One thing did happen that I hadn't considered in advance -- the electrical load from the fan that keeps the house inflated overloded a circuit (or something). The power to the fan shut off, and the bounce house began to collapse -- on DD, who was trying it out in advance of the party.

When I heard the fan stop, I think I broke a land speed record getting from the kitchen to the bounce house to pull DD out. [cringe, see above, supervision.] I know that the company that I rented from would also rent a generator to power the fan; I opted out of that because of the noise and the exhaust and the whole set up was at grandma's house, with lots of outside sockets, so no problem in just plugging in the fan. Eh. Not so much. I don't know that there's any way to figure out whether this would happen in your setting, but I offer my experience FWIW. If we do this again at G-ma's, I might have an electrician in to look at her breaker box in advance.

There is a funny, but sad clip from David Letterman on youtube where Dave and Jerry Seinfeld discuss their views on moon house parties. It's funny at first until you find out Jerry's daughter broke her arm in one. I assume they did the classy thing and did not sue since there is an assumed risk whenever you send a kid to an active birthday party. I think if parents are there it us up to them to supervise their own kids. My kids LOVE moon bounces-OMG do they go nuts for them, but I cross my fingers and hope for the best whenever they go in one with lots of kids.
