Does Trader Joe's sell kimchi?

Anonymous
Woke up this morning craving kimchi fried rice. Do NOT feel like dealing with the zoo that is Wegmans on a Sunday so was thinking Trader Joe's instead... tried to Google to see if they sold kimchi but all I'm finding is frozen premade kimchi fried rice which I'm not interested in. Anyone know if they sell a jarred kimchi there? Thanks!

I'd call them. Even if they have it at one store, they may not have it at another.

Just go to an asian supermarket. My favorite is on the corner of Randolph and Viers Mill in Wheaton, right next to the CVS and Unique Thrift/Bazaar (Its name escapes me right now.) Or there's always H Mart.

I was just wondering this last week, and I don't think they do, but they do sell seaweed strips made in Korea.

I do not know if they sell Kimichi either but I wanted to say Trader Joe's is a zoo on the weekend as much as Wegmans.

They do sell it. In a bag. Near the precut veggies. Never tried theirs though.

I am OP and I can report that Trader Joe's (at least the one I went to in Reston) does not sell kimchi. Neither did the Safeway I passed on the way back- which meant I ended up at Wegmans anyway. LOL.

OP, I know you don't feel like it today, but when you get a chance, visit an Asian food market. It's a revelation especially if you enjoy cooking.

I will give it a try sometime. I am a complete novice when it comes to cooking any type of Asian food (beyond a simple fried rice) but I lived in Okinawa when I was younger (dad in military) and loved all the markets there- not sure if they'd be the same here, but I really ought to go to one now that I live somewhere where they actually exist.

Well, again, it depends on if you into cooking. I am a novice as well. I consider anyone who wasn't trained in France to be the same . But I really love cooking and learning new cultural recipes. I have no idea if an Asian market here would compare to Okinawa but I remember my first time shopping at H Mart in Wheaton. Who knew there were 100 different types of soy sauce? Also discovered many varieties of rice, noodles, condiments (shrimp paste, anyone?), as well as prepared foods. And the produce also seems to be much fresher, cheaper and of course, a more expansive variety. H Mart actually specializes in Korean foods but you will find a little of everything there. Same with other Asian markets. The Washingtonian had a great article about these markets in this pasts months' issue. Check it out when you have time.

And I should add, I also see it in Safeway on a regular basis. I guess they feel more of the stuff in urban markets?
