| My ex has recently had a child with his new GF. I live in MD and he lives in VA. Will my child's support amount be changed because of this? I can never get a hold of an actual person when I call the support office to ask this question. Thanks! |

Not without him going to court to request a reduction. You can reply and say he knew of this responsibility primary to the new kid. Thus he should make more money...
When he does make more haul him in and get your kid more money |

Was your agreement done in MD or VA?
If in VA, you should be good. I think it's based just on the formula (which you can find online) and takes into account both parties' incomes and the costs of raising the kid, including school, daycare, health care, etc. The presence of other children would not change the formula, though it might decrease the ex's willingness to pay what was court-ordered or agreed-upon. |
| Since I live in MD, I filed here and he deals with the VA support folks. Thanks for the info PPs. |
they take into account if you have other children you are financially responsible for... OP if he takes you to court yes it can change the amount you can get.... more kids mean each child gets less money its just how it is... |
