This is embarrassing but ever since I grew my hair from a bob to long, I've had dandruff that is getting worse. I wash my hair every other day with OTC shampoo - usually dove brand. What have you done about this? Does head and shoulders work? Will it mess up my hair in other ways? Should I just cut my hair short again?
My husband uses the Neutrogena T-Gel Shampoo + Conditioner and this works for him.
T-Gel shampoo is too strong for me. And it damages my hair color. I do okay with Head & Shoulders as long as I wash every day or every other day. Sometimes I've had to use Nizoral. I've even had it in prescription strength. I also used Sebulex for years.
Nizoral is the only thing that works for me and won't mess up my color. Once a year I'll go to my dermatologist and get a refillable prescription for the 2 percent ketaconazole which works better than the 1 percent nizoral
I think Selsun Blue works a lot better than Head and Shoulders.
Head and Shoulders turns my hair pink if I don't rinse it for several minutes. Selsun Blue works better. Most dandruff is actually a fungus growing on your scalp, so don't fall into thinking that it is dry and needs to be moisturized.
Paul Mitchell Tea Tree - either the Special Shampoo and Conditioner or the Lavender Mint (moisturizing) Shamp and Cond.
I think it's all fungus, which everyone has, but that has grown out of control on those who have flakes. Please enjoy the mental image of a fungus monster stomping un impeded across your scalp. |
