Recommendations for an LGBT-friendly couples therapist

Anonymous
We are a gay couple who have been together for over a decade. We have spent the last four years dealing with a lot of major issues: TTC, parents in failing health, major health issue of one partner, birth of a baby, and the stress of two careers while raising a child. We are both exhausted, have neglected our relationship, and it has suffered. We don't want to break up and we would like to see a therapist to work through some of these issues.

Any recommendation for a therapist who deals with the above with experience with LGBT clients would be appreciated. Prefer DC or MD, but would travel to VA if need be.

TIA.

I am actually a Maryland based couples therapist that is experienced in working with LGBT couples. I would be happy to talk with you about potentially helping you and your partner through your current challenges. If you'd like to provide your email address, then I'd be happy to send you a personal message from my office email account. In spite of the current stressors the two of you are dealing with, it is great that you are both aware that you've been neglecting your relationship - which is easy to do at this stage in your lives. You are wise to be pro-active while you are both still motivated to WANT this to work. I look forward to hearing from you.

We (lesbian couple) saw Alicia George -- she's a social worker across from the Zoo. Very focused on communication. We got a lot out of it -- still use the skills we learned.

Beth Parker who is also a social worker does LGBT work, as well as TTC. She is also located across from the zoo.
