| I have never been a coffee drinker but I do love a cup of hot tea every morning. I am fine without caffiene. I am getting so much conflicting info online (surprise surprise) about what is ok to drink. Even chamomile is controversial depending on what website you look at. I am only a couple of weeks along right now. Does anyone know where to find a legitimate list of good and bad teas? |
| It sounds like there isn't a list. I wouldn't risk having any. |
Agreed. |
| There are over a billion chinese and a billion people in india where tea is a staple... it can't all be bad! |
| I had a cup of decaf tea every morning. Ask your OB about it. |
| My OB says up to 200mg of caffeine a day. A cup of black tea has anywhere between 25-60mg depending on the size of your cup. So totally fine. |
Exactly, my mom had at least one cup a day (sometimes two) while pregnant with all three of us, and we're all just fine! |
| Regular black tea is just fine (as long we you're within the caffeine maximum). Most herbal teas are just fine too. There are lists out there if you google. Some that aren't recommended in the first trimester are teas with hibiscus, chamomile (though i still had it occasionally), nettle, dandelion. But most herbal teas that you find commercially are fine. |

This is somewhat helpful. http://www.livestrong.com/article/265276-herbal-teas-to-not-take-when-pregnant/

| I've been drinking organic ginger tea. I'm fairly certain ginger poses no risk, and has the added benefit of settling your tummy. |
| Oh pulllease people! One cup of tea, whether green, chamomile or black is not going to cause a frickin' miscarriage! The studies that I've read and the doctors I've talked to have all said that there is no real concern about a moderate daily caffeine intake. |
| I agree with the PP. I have one cup of coffee a day and I just had an IVF transfer. Drinking one cup of coffee will not be the reason this one doesn't take, if it doesn't. The same way that a cup of tea won't have any effect. Use common sense and don't let early pregnancy drive you batshit. |

Decaf black tea is the best,
also white tea. Safest to stay away from the herbals. if drinking green tea you should take extra folate. |
| I drink peppermint tea pretty frequently, no problems so far! |
| What about McDonald's $1 sweet iced tea? <serious question> I'm TTC, and I drink a large cup at least 4 times a week. Will I have to give that up if I manage to get pregnant? |
