What kind of kitchen table should I get?

Hoping for some ideas. Kitchen has white cabinets with a grey and white granite with a few touches of burgundy/dark red. I've thought of getting a white pedestal table but wonder if that would be too much white. I have also thought of a glass topped table. I'd love to utilize my current chairs (maple) by possibly painting them. Any ideas appreciated. We eat at the dining room table so this is really just to have something to fill the space.

Do you cook? If so and since you don't need the table to eat at you could get a high work table - maybe one with a marble pastry slab top. If I had room and money that's what I'd do!

Interesting idea. I do cook. It's a small kitchen and I don't have a lot of counter space. The eating area is off to the side with the sliding door to the backyard on one side, the dining room on the other and the laundry room door and kitchen area on the other sides. I really don't want to spend a lot of money so I was looking at just getting an ikea table and chairs set to put there. But maybe the work table is a better idea. Thanks.

I'd also go the work table route that has some storage underneath. You can get some bar stools to sit at for when you want to eat at the counter.
