I'm sure this question has been posed in the past, so sorry if it is a duplicate (although I didn't see it). I am researching breast pumps but would like to get some recommendations from actual users. I will be breast feeding for 12 weeks while I am on maternity leave, then I will need to start pumping when I return to work. I would like to breast feed/pump for a year if I can make it that long. Does anyone have any recommendations (specific brands and prices)? Is it possible to get a good electric pump in the $100 range? Thanks!! |
Yes, there was a post on breast pump rec. not too long ago.
For me, I bought the Ameda Purely Yours from the hospital because it was the cheapest ($168 with tax). However, after a month the motor died and, although Ameda sent me a new one in 24 hours, I was freaking out since I was worried about feeding my newborn. So, I went out to Target and bought the Medela pump for $247. Way more expensive, but at least I have peace of mind. Also, I was able to buy a car adapter with this model. You may want to consider craigslist for used breast pumps. The lactation consultants and others will tell you it isn't hygenic, but if you buy new tubing, parts, bottles, etc. you should be ok. Just a thought. |
Thanks... and I just found the other thread. |
