Hi,
I am currently 31 weeks pregnant and have noticed only very minimal changes in my feet - my gym shoes feel slightly tighter, but just barely. I have been working out regularly throughout my pregnancy and this pair of gym shoes is past the point where I would normally replace them. I'm sure this sounds like a trivial issue, but I am debating whether to replace them now (as I have plantar fascitis and need to make sure my feet stay supported), or to wait until after the baby is born. My question is: if I haven't seen much change in my feet by now, am I likely have much more swelling and/or change in foot size later on? Does this typically occur only very late in pregnancy, or am I just less likely to have this issue? I don't seem to have any other swelling (I can still wear my rings). Any thoughts? TIA! |
My swelling began to get worse as the pregnancy progressed. I'm currently at 33 weeks and am noticing a little swelling...but not as much as I had with my first. However, I'm not assuming that I'm not going to swell up huge again.
My swelling got to the point where I couldn't wear my normal shoes - I ended up buying a cheap pair from Target. Everyone is different though...maybe you won't have the problems I did. |
My feet were only slightly swollen around 31 weeks and now, at 39 weeks, they are VERY swollen. I can still fit into my running shoes, but the laces have to be very loose. |
I'm two weeks behind you at 29 weeks, and I'm really glad that I typically buy my running shoes 1/2 to 1 size larger than my regular size. My feet have been really swollen for a few weeks now!
Since your shoes are already "kicked" and past the point where you'd normally replace them, I'd just go ahead and buy new ones in a larger size or you risk doing damage to your feet by wearing shoes with worn-out cushioning and arch support. Even after baby, you might enjoy having a little extra room in your shoes. (and can wear thicker socks or insoles to help w/ any gaps.) Good luck! |
OP here - thanks for the replies! |
