Hi
Recently found out at 6 week ultrasound that fetus was not growing. This was our second IUI with ShadyGrove. My doctor said since I am bleeding heavily and my hcg levels are coming down, that I do not need a D&C. I would like to start trying again, wanted to know your experience on how soon did you try after you miscarried (early pregnancy). |
|
first i waited 3 months on ob´s advice
for the second and third i didnt wait, RE said there was no need to wait. best of luck to you and so sorry you had to go through this. |
| I've waited for one "normal" cycle. I figure the first few weeks after the miscarriage all the hormones are messed up, so I just wait until my period comes back and then start trying again. Good luck. |
| I just had a D&C at 12 weeks and RE and dr told me to wait 2 complete cycles to try again. I think thats because I was so far along though |
| Did they say why specifically? Just curious because I was also almost 13 weeks and my Doc (Larsen at GW) said I didn't have to wait at all. |
| The first time, I did not wait. Miscarried in October, pregnant again in January. Miscarried in January as well. Am now waiting for a few months - not on anyone's advice but because I personally need an emotional break before trying again. This would be our second child. Right now I am thinking that I would like to wait to TTC again until the summer, but that's for personal reasons, not on the advice of any medical people. Midwives told me in January to wait 3 cycles if possible. |
| So sorry for you impending loss. I was told to wait until getting a period and can then try the next month. |
| 13:51 back. That's so interesting because I actually had my scan where I discovered the loss with dr larsen (although he is not my regular OB). The reason they told me to wait was that it can take that long for the uterine lining to really build back up and be able to sustain a pregnancy. Not sure if its because I had a D&C though. Let me know if you hear anything else as to why its ok to start sooner. I am desperate to try again sooner than 2 cycles but we are scared to go against medical advice and have another potential loss |
|
13:51 again. Sorry to hijack the thread but especially curious from those who had later miscarriages or D&C's if they were told to wait several cycles (and if they followed or not, if they were successful).
Thank you. We plan to move onto FET next |

I'm so sorry for your loss I had a m/c at 10.5 weeks, then waited until my period came to try. I didn't have a D&C either. I think my cycle was a bit longer than normal, maybe 30-35 days. My doctor told me that people do get pregnant after m/c, but before their next period, and it just makes it harder to tell how far along you are.
I'm sorry. |
| We started trying right away, didn't wait after a 12 week miscarriage. |
|
Its so interesting how different the responses are on here vs what our drs have presented to us. To those who started trying right after a 12 week miscarriage, have you had any success?
Sorry to everyone for their losses. Its so terrible. Wishing everyone gets their miracles |
| OP here, Thank you all! and I will pray for all of us, please keep me in your prayers. |
|
I just had a six week loss and D&C. My OB said to just wait until I'd had my period once.
Thanks for asking this, OP, and good luck to you. |
| I had a nine week loss and a D&C in May 2011 after our 2nd IVF cycle; our RE also said to wait for one period (with PCOS it took longer than I would have liked - not that nature cared); our 5 day transfer was in August 2011; our baby boy was born at 35 weeks (I had hypertension issues) at the end of March, he is now 3+ weeks old. Looking back now, it seemed forever until we could try again, but now holding him it was all worth it. |
