Zimmerman has pulled a runner? Whaaa?

I saw a headline a day or two ago, but didn't have time to read. George Zimmerman has disappeared and his lawyers have dumped him?

Anyone following this? Is there more to it? From the headline (and little other info, as I haven't been reading much about it), sure sounds like the actions of a guilty man... That is, he's not doing himself any favors, perception-wise.

Or, you know, a man who fears for his life, given the sheer number of people threatening to take it. That reaction has nothing to do with guilt.

Seriously, why wouldn't he run?

Given the very public and frightening threats, couldn't he apply for protection? I can't believe that our legal system offers no protection to the innocent-until-proven-guilty other than "HIDE. Don't even tell your lawyers where you are."

(FWIW, I think the whole thing is fishy as hell, and my gut says Zimmerman likely has something to feel guilty about. But until he's tried and convicted, I think he should be protected as any other citizen would be.)

They didn't just drop him. They said they can't give full representation until he gives contact.

Again when you see, "Zimmerman dropped by lawyers" it makes him sound guilty all ready. See how the media dictates emotion?

Did you also hear after the announcement one of the lawyers went off on the media about their bias coverage etc. ? Yeah, I bet CNN will edit that before it airs.

I would be willing to accept your bet but it wouldn't be fair. CNN showed the press conference live. It aired without editing.

*might not*

If safety was the issue he could have run long ago. It is suspicious that he is doing it now that the prosecution is ready to announce something. But the answer will be whether he shows if the court issues a warrant. Until then he is free to do what he wants.

Btw the conservative media has done their own job on this case. They have done their best to dig up any shred of info on Trayvon Martin and play fast and loose with how they characterize what they find.
