| having some folks over tomorrow for easter brunch and 1, possibly 2, are on GF diets (for celiac). Does whole foods sell GF pastries or anything like that? any bakeries? I will have other offerings as well that they can eat but thought it would be nice... |
| Yes the Happy Tart in Del Ray has pastries and cookies and such. I am not GF but their treats are very good. If you are east of DC, there is a bakery in Severna Park called Freedom Bakery that has cupcakes and such but I'm not sure about pastries. |
| WF sells things in the freezer section. Lilit Cafe in Bethesda also has things -fresh and frozen. We tried cupcakes there that came From a bakery in Baltimore. So-so. Y |
| Au Pain Quotidien (Bethesda. Georgetown.) |
I don't think this place sells GF products. Whole Foods or Lilit are your best bets for baked goods. MOMs also sells GF muffins. Praline sells GF cookies and cakes and the Original Pancake Company does GF pancakes if you're eating out. Trader Joes also has many GF items, e.g., a nice chocolate cake but not a lot in terms of things like muffins. |
| Just checked online. . Au Pain Quotidien DOES have some gluten free products. |
| Hawthorne Market had GF cookies last time I was there (but a very limited selection.) It's in Cleveland Park. |
Also at Dupont, P and 20th. |
Quiche, crackers and what else? http://anothergfblog.blogspot.com/2012/02/le-pain-quotidien.html I genuinely curious b/c I have a family member who is celiac and we might eat there if there were more options. |

Whole Foods does have gluten free products. Some are better then others (and some are just plain nasty) That goes for any gluten free products - some are nasty, some are so-so, some are very good. We like Udi's products.
We went to Lilit Cafe once a couple years ago. I liked their GF food, but I haven't tried any of their desserts or pastries. Make sure you are careful about avoiding cross contamination. |
| Buzz Bakery has gluten free products that are really tasty. |
