Feedback on Just Us Kids daycare?

Anonymous
Hi--
I'd love to hear from anyone with a child at this daycare about your experience. I'm particularly interested in the infant room, but would like to hear if folks are happy with the other age rooms as well. Thank you!

It's hard to get into. But my coworkers who have their kids there love it.

Ditto. And I'm hoping we get in for the Fall.

Has anyone been accepted into the infant class for Fall yet?

A colleague of mine recently was offered a spot here to start immediately. The director flat-out told her that she does not follow the waitlist, which is why my colleague got in. I found this really frustrating, especially since they happily take your waitlist application fee.

DO you know what enabled your colleague to be accepted if not the waitlist? I mean I know it is dependent upon timing and space and your DC's age and whether he/she has a sibling in the school -- but do you mean something other than those factors swayed the decision?

Yes, my understanding is that the director indicated she ignored "normal" waitlist considerations. My colleague said she wasn't even supposed to be telling people that she got in, let alone what the director said. If the director was simply saying that "application date is not the only thing I consider, but I also consider other factors such as the child's age or other legitimate factors" I don't see why she would have felt it necessary to even give that warning. My take-away from the conversation was that the director picks and chooses who she lets in the center (based on what, I don't know -- who calls most? who brings her cookies when she tours the center?)

There should be an investigation into Pam (the Director) - she chooses based on her personal preference, one of my co-workers threatened to sue her because she didn't get in (when she sent her application in at the same time as another coworker) the white coworker got in and the black coworker did not. Pam told the black coworker if she didn't sue she would let her in.

Pam has admitted to not following the wait list and even hangs up and laughs at people about her policies. DOJ did an investigation (one of the LEAP programs did it) but nothing ever came of it. So, she keeps doing what she does.

But, she's already been investigated twice and cleared. Because she officially doesn't work for the government - there is nothing that DOJ is willing to do.

I have to say I've heard these awful stories about her on here, but she's always been cordial to me (someone on the waitlist). and I have two close friends whose kids go there and they really like her.

Who does she work for?
If its a private company her behavior could constitute fraud when they accept deposits.

Bump. Our son is on the waitlist. Parents of current students, it seems that Pam is no longer the director. Sumara Khalid is the director and Leslie McKay handles the waitlist. If your child is a toddler, how are the days structured? I like the small size of the facility. My husband is at the FBI.

I work two blocks away from this program. I stopped by and called about their infant program (not a Fed). Was told very honestly that while I could get on the wait list,
it had been many many years since they had had an opening for a non-DOJ or Fed employee. I appreciated the honesty.
