| .....do you state your height in socks or do you add an inch or so? I've noticed that most people (especially men) add an inch or two to their height. Why do people do this? It's not as if I can't see how tall you are. Is there some perceived benefit to being thought of as taller than you are? People even do this with their babies/toddlers. "Oh my baby is in the 90th percentile for height, blah, blah." A fraction of an inch will cause you to cross percentiles and measurements of squirming babies are notoriously inaccurate. I'm just curious why people do this. |
| Men add an inch to their height...and their length and girth. |
| Perhaps the same reason women subtract 10-20 pounds from their weight? |
| Once went on a date with a guy I met through online dating who lied about his height by 4-5 inches and wore man-heels. |
| yeah guys almost always add an inch or two - and just like PP said, women subtract weight. Who cares?? |
|
guys do this.
I'm 5'8.5" and just round down. My boss says he is 5'11" and I tower over him in heels, I think he is really my height. Not sure why he lies because he is super hot, no matter how tall! |
| When would I tell people how tall I am? |
I started rounding up when I couldn't shake 10 lbs of baby weight
|
I was going to say the same thing!! |
| My husband rounds down to 6'5". He's embarrassed to be so tall I guess. I never realized we was 6'6" until we had a dr come to the house for life insurance and took his measurements. |

Back in the day when I was single, it always used to crack me up when a guy (usually in a bar) would ask me how tall I was. I'd say "six feet." He'd say "NO..you're not six feet, I'M six feet. You must be taller than that." Yes sweetie, I know, that must be it.
|
Mine does too! He's actually 6'6 3/4" and I only found out when I saw his military paperwork. |
only OK during the Saturday Night Fever era
|
| You can give him the confused look and say, "Is that standing barefoot?" |
Ha, this is me, too! |
