| We live in FCPS and based on the NNat, my kid will be in the AAP pool next year. My kid is definitely smart, but she is not off-the-charts. I do think though that given some of her talents that she will especially excel in middle/ high school. I really have no idea if she will be deemed worthy enough to get into AAP. If she doesn't, that begs the question would she have been better off in Arlington schools where there is not this specified program? FCPS just feels so competitive and I'm wondering if Arlington schools also are or is it more relaxed because there is no AAP. |
|
AAP only feels competitive in 2nd grade, when many parents are going nuts and some of them are driving their kids nuts too as a result.
Once you're in, you're not competing against anyone but yourself. Same applies if you're not in. Relax. |
| Agree, PP. Lots of unnecessary drama around AAP (I have one kid in AAP and one not if that matters). |
|
Second (or I guess that would be third) the PP. AAP drama centers on the 2nd grade lunacy and then it is done.
(I have one kid in AAP and the other in the 2nd grade pool.) |
| Veiled Brag Alert. |
| 14:21 here. I didn't intend to do a VBA. I only included that I had one in AAP and one not to avoid the sour grapes accusations. Guess I can't win either way, huh? |
| All I know is there are no Crips forcing girls into prostitution in Arlington like there have been in Fairfax. |
| PP: That has been caught |
Indeed it finally was. Arlington doesn't have these kinds of problems. |
|
Wakefield HS in Arlington has the highest dropout rate in NoVa and lower SAT scores than any school in Fairfax County.
Deal with that, and then you can worry about the pimps in Fairfax. |
Go back to defending ACPS and its Plan B clinic for hood hos. |
Well, yeah, it does. http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/Six-in-Custody-For-Arlington-Prostitution-Investigation-135569308.html http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/06/14/mall-guard-accused-running-prostitution-business/ |
